How Habitat Serves

From its beginning, Habitat for Humanity has focused on shelter.  A home can serve as the foundation for a family for life.  Now more than ever, housing must be a priority. We are in the midst of an affordable housing crisis.  Every day individuals and families are forced to make impossible decisions.  Some live where they can afford and may deal with substandard housing, plagued by health and safety concerns. Others spend a larger portion of their limited income for better conditions and can become housing cost burdened. This choice also comes with consequences, as families must decide what they will go without in order to pay for their housing.  It might be nutritious food or medical visits or savings for education.

We believe in a community where our neighbors will never need to face such a dilemma again.  And thanks to donors and volunteers who embrace the simple belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live, we believe that day will come.
