How Habitat Serves

From its beginning, Habitat for Humanity has focused on shelter.  A home can serve as the foundation for a family for life.  Now more than ever, housing must be a priority. We are in the midst of an affordable housing crisis.  Every day individuals and families are forced to make impossible decisions.  Some live where they can afford and may deal with substandard housing, where they may face health and safety concerns, or housing that simply does not meet their needs. Others may spend a larger portion of their income for better conditions and can become housing cost burdened. This choice also comes with consequences, as families must decide what they will go without in order to pay for their housing.

We believe in a community where our neighbors will never need to face such a dilemma again.  And thanks to donors and volunteers who embrace the same belief, we believe that day will come.
