Director of Development
The Director of Development is responsible for implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan designed to meet the strategic goals in support of the programs of affordable homeownership and affordable homeowner repairs. This is primarily a relationship building position with the expectation of ongoing donor engagement.
Reports to: Executive Director
Key Responsibilities
· Working with the Executive Director, creates fundraising plan to meet annual operating budget and build goals, and assesses quarterly benchmarks.
· Develops strategies for acquiring new donors- individuals, businesses, faith groups, civic groups, foundations, and more.
· Focuses on donor retention and upgrade by developing cultivation plans for existing donors and regularly meets with donors.
· Innovates and implements strategies to enhance donor experience across all giving levels, ensuring that donors feel valued and informed.
· Develops and maintains annual giving, major gifts, campaigns, recurring giving, planned giving, and special event fundraising efforts.
· Works with the Director of Engagement and Communications to create appeals using direct mail, website, and social media.
· Oversees timely and meaningful donor acknowledgment.
· Ensures all donation information is correctly tracked through donor management system.
· Working with the Executive Director, helps identify and apply for grants and ensures all reporting requirements are met.
· Serves as the staff liaison to the Development Committee, providing staff support to the committee by coordinating meetings, developing agendas and goals, and preparing meeting minutes with follow-up planning items as identified.
· Works with Community Outreach Director to strategically coordinate fundraising activities led by the County Committees, as part of overall affiliate fundraising efforts.
· Make public appearances and presentations to solicit funding and support of affiliate operations.
· Stays current on best practices and trends in nonprofit fundraising and development and implements new ideas and strategies as appropriate.
· Ensures current practices managed by this position are consistent with Habitat International, state, and local affiliate policies and practices, and prepares recommendations for change as needed and appropriate.
· Other duties as assigned to meet affiliate needs.
Key Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree and/ or a combination of 2-5 years of experience in a related field.
· Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is a plus.
· Absolute integrity and transparency, ability to treat colleagues, donors, volunteers, and community members with respect while maintaining confidentiality.
· Must be a self-starter and able to work independently, while also an effective and proactive team player.
· Possess excellent communication skills.
· Possess attention to detail.
· Possess computer skills, with proven ability to use variety of applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
· Available for duties on occasional Saturdays and evenings.
Prior to being hired, applicants are required to have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check and a credit history check as part of the pre-employment screening process.

This is an exempt position with a 40-hour work week.
Compensation is dependent on education and experience.
